Nikolai Mercer - Barber and Founder of The Barber Society
With14 years of experience in the barbering industry, I take pride in delivering precision haircuts, skin fades and traditional face shaves. My journey began at Bates Technical College, where I completed barber school at just 19 years old while still in high school. After earning my license, I spent 11 years at the Navy Exchange and 3 years at Silver City Barbershop.
After my years at Silver City, I knew it was time to create a space of my own - a barbershop where I can fully craft the experience that I wanted for both myself and my clients. That vision became The Barber Society, a place built on inclusivity, skill and community.
I'm dedicated to providing a professional and welcoming space where clients can expect consistent, high-caliber grooming services. I specialize in working with all hair types, including BiPOC hair textures, ensuring that every client receives a cut tailored to their personal style and needs. Additionally, I have a lot of experience with people who have sensory sensitivities and welcome clients of all abilities. To create the most comfortable experience possible, I have designed a seperate low-sensory room specifically for clients who need a quieter, more controlled environment for their haircut.

Our Policies
NO show/LAte
Shear work
Illness
If you are 5+ minutes late, there will be at minimum a $5 charge.
If you arrive over 10 minutes late, you will need to reschedule your appointment.
Any missed appointments will result in your account on squire being put on the prepay list. If you no show a second time, you will be required to pay for the service missed before being able to schedule another appointment.
If a haircut is over 50% shear work, the haircut will be at minimum $40, the long haircut price.
Military Discount
The military discount is exclusively available to active duty members and reservists.
Family members of military personnel and retired service members will be charged the standard civilian rates applicable to their chosen haircut.
To ensure a safe and healthy environment for everyone, please follow these guidelines when an illness has occurred.
-If you are feeling unwell, please cancel your appointment at least 6 hours in advance.
-If you are unable to cancel within this timeframe, you will be required to wear a mask during your appointment.
-If anyone in your household has been sick in the last 3 days, please wear a mask as a precaution.
